AIDS Coalition Silicon Valley Announces New Board Members

San Jose, CA – Judy Whittier, chairwoman of the board of directors for AIDS Coalition Silicon Valley, announced
today the addition of four new members to the organization’s board of directors. As the governing body for the
Coalition, each individual will serve a two year term.
Dr. James Lee
Dr. Lee is an Associate Professor of Sociology in the College of Social Sciences at San Jose State University. Among other community service, he formerly served on the board of South Alabama CARES, an HIV/AIDS services organization in Mobile, AL. Beyond being a campus advocate for HIV/AIDS prevention, he has been a personal donor to the Walk For AIDS for many years. Dr. Lee also served as the face of the Coalitionʹs 2008 Walk For AIDS recruitment campaign.
Tony Sellars
Tony is the owner of Party Fiesta Balloon Décor, a business in downtown San Jose. He has been an avid supporter of the Coalition’s events and is very involved in the local community.
Mitzi Macon
Mitzi has been the Director of Technology Services, at San Jose Unified School District for over 30 years. She has served a variety of community organizations as a volunteer including the Vista Center, a resource for individuals with vision loss in Santa Clara County. Mitzi also lead the Living Well Council at WestGate Church, which is a ministry that focuses on compassion, care, support, and advocacy for the marginalized within the local community, primarily dealing with those who are suffering from HIV/AIDS.
Jack Wimberly
Jack Wimberly is the founder and Firm Director of Transparency, a downtown San Jose‐based marketingcommunications firm. Overseeing business‐development and creative services, Jack attained a Bachelor of Arts in Commercial Advertising from the Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara. He previously worked in communications with Sunset Magazine, Giorgio Armani corporate and the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. He is active in the community as a member of the Downtown San Jose Rotary Club, the Saint James Historic District Neighborhood Association, and is instrumental in the conception, development and growth of the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce’s new group, Today’s Young Professionals. In addition, he shares his musical gifts assisting the Head of Music Ministry at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Saratoga, a large regional parish known for its community fundraising and outreach.
AIDS Coalition Silicon Valley is a non‐profit organization dedicated to being a leader in the local fight against HIV/AIDS while working to improve the lives of people affected by the pandemic. The Coalition annually produces the Walk for AIDS Silicon Valley, Unmask the Mysteries Gala and new in 2009 the Youth Leadership Summit on HIV/AIDS. The organization also provides substantial financial contributions to local HIV/AIDS service agencies through their Community Grants Program.
